Seaside, Oregon has Mobi-Mats!
Leesa and I were told by my mom that she had seen these in Seaside so one rainy afternoon we made the 2 hour trip to Seaside to discover these for ourselves for later exploration.
We found the one on the north end of the Promenade at the end of Avenue U.
We plan on fully exploring these in better weather this summer.
Sturdy, electric-blue Mobi-Mats enhance beach accessibility by providing a stable, flat surface that ensures smooth passage for wheels onto the sand.
Made from recycled polyester, these mats are securely anchored through the rolling dunes, aiding individuals with mobility aids, those using canes, and parents with strollers and beach wagons.
The mats’ lengths vary with ocean and tide conditions year-round, so visitors should check for updates before heading to South Seaside.
These Mobi-Mats are a significant addition to making beaches more inclusive and enjoyable for all.
The Mobi-Mats are located at the south end of the Promenade at Avenue U and also in north Seaside at the 12th Avenue beach access.
The Mobi-Mat beach access entrance on the north end at 12th Avenue has a public parking lot and restrooms with ramps.
The access to the Mobi-Mat on the south side is at the end of the Promenade with limited parking at the end of Avenue U.
