Seaside, Oregon has Mobi-Mats!
My mom told Leesa and me that she had seen these in Seaside. So, one rainy afternoon, we took a 2-hour trip to Seaside to discover these for ourselves for later exploration.
We found the one on the north end of the Promenade at the end of Avenue U.
We plan on fully exploring these in better weather this summer.
Sturdy, electric-blue Mobi-Mats enhance beach accessibility. They offer a stable, flat surface. This ensures smooth passage for wheels onto the sand.
These mats are made from recycled polyester. They are securely anchored through the rolling dunes. The mats aid individuals with mobility aids. They also help those using canes, as well as parents with strollers and beach wagons.
The mats’ lengths vary with ocean and tide conditions year-round. Visitors should check for updates before heading to South Seaside.
These Mobi-Mats are a significant addition to making beaches more inclusive and enjoyable for all.
The access to the Mobi-Mat on the south side is at the end of the Promenade. There is limited parking at the end of Avenue U.
They are also located on the north end on 12th Avenue. It has a public parking lot. There are also restrooms with ramps.
